Baseboard

  • only needed for Trail shell
  • 6 mm birch ply, treated with linseed oil.
  • shaped to lie on the flat base of the HDPE shell.
  • Weight: 1.75 Kgs (3.85 lbs)

When/why use a baseboard?
a) There is a tendency for the base of all plastic pulks to become convex when the straps are tightened, which could make them more unstable. The plywood baseboard keeps the base of the pulk flat and helps spread the load. It can also be used in the tent for cooking on, and as an insulator from the snow (but protect the base under the cooker).
b) To make sure that the plastic base of the pulk is kept flat when travelling over hard, bumpy ice.
