The Polar pyramid is a highly specified double skin tent of traditional design, renowned for its outstanding ability to withstand the worst of polar weather. It is easy to pitch, even in high winds, and comfortable for extended living when travel is not possible. These tents are usually transported in the field situation on a Nansen sled and can be freighted in small aircraft such as the Twin Otter.
We have now been making these Scott pyramid tents for over 10 years.
A new fabric has been introduced for the outer layer, to replace Ventile. This is a high tenacity, proofed nylon, red in colour and of slightly lower weight. This gives important benefits,
The heavy weight breather tube has been replaced with two lightweight ventilation cowls (more if requested), each having 250% greater ventilation area than the previous single tube.
A further major change is that all tents are now manufactured in-house, with consequent improvements in quality control and efficiency - also contributing to the lower selling price now possible.
