Base Layer

An effective base layer is one that encourages body vapour to pass quickly through to the outer clothing layers. Additionally it should provide useful thermal insulation and be comfortable and fairly close fitting.

Recent years have seen an increase in newly developed fabrics made from merino wool, which are extremely effective in all climates. The choice is therefore between these and Paramo garments, which have an additional advantage in that they can be reversed for summer cooling.

All are very effective at not absorbing body odours—they can be worn for a long time without smelling! All are available in mens and womens cuts. Please access manufacturers web-sites to view all options.
