Caring for Snowsled Ventile Garments

When you clean a garment, ensure the following washing instructions are followed. Remember that these outer fabrics are natural products which ‘breathe’ and respond to climatic change, actually altering structure when wet, and effectively reducing the possibility of percolation to very low levels. Treated with respect, over the years your garment will become a trusted friend.

Cleaning and Reproofing

Try to brush out any dirt, sand, grit or mud with light, ‘lifting’ brush strokes. Turn the garment inside out. Wash in only water either by hand or on a gentle wash cycle in a washing machine. Always avoid detergents and fabric softners/conditioners and if washing in a machine, ensure any residues are removed from the compartments before starting. The minimum of pure soap can be used only when entirely necessary or nikwax tech wash, however, rinse very thoroughly as complete removal of all soap traces is vital. Line dry removing wrinkles as far as possible.

A short heat treatment in a tumble dryer of a clean dry garment can enhance proofing quality significantly.

Ventile fabric is so densely woven that it cannot be dyed right through. After some use you will beginto see loss of colour, and washing can often create a ‘stone-washed’ appearance. After washing you may wish to re-proof. We recommend using a product particularly suited to Ventile/cotton/natural fabrics - follow the instructions carefully.

With the right care, our Ventile jackets can last for many years, however, accidents do happen and clothing can get torn or abraided. So to help with upkeep we offer an excellent
